BPCM at CEIC 2015 Las Vegas: cybersecurity and digital forensics with Guidance Software

In May 2015, BPCM Abogados attended the Computer Enterprise and Investigations Conference (CEIC), the most relevant international gathering on digital forensics, cybersecurity and incident response. The edition was held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, bringing together judges, prosecutors, forensic experts, law enforcement officers, compliance professionals and technology industry leaders from around the world.
CEIC is organized by Guidance Software, the U.S. company that pioneered digital forensic technology and developed EnCase, the investigation and analysis platform adopted by government agencies, law enforcement and corporate cybersecurity teams in more than 65 countries. EnCase is internationally recognized as the de facto standard for the acquisition, preservation and analysis of digital evidence admissible in court.
BPCM participated in CEIC with a presentation focused on cybersecurity, protection of digital assets and the legal challenges posed by electronic evidence in complex investigations. The talk addressed the interplay between the technical capabilities of forensic platforms and the regulatory frameworks in force across Latin American jurisdictions — a key issue for evidence to retain effective probative value.
Participating in CEIC strengthened BPCM's professional relationship with Guidance Software and with the international community of specialists in cybercrime, intellectual property and information security. These spaces are essential for the firm to keep an updated view on emerging threats and investigative methodologies that it then applies in its daily work protecting technology companies and rights holders.
